Margaret Hull

Vocal technique, repertoire, presentation skills, mindful performance, calming performance anxiety, breathing and singing for wholeness

Margaret has taught and coached vocal performance in KW for over 25 years, with singers of rock to liturgical chant to opera, and with speakers who want to optimize their presentations.  She believes in the power of a solid classical technique to liberate the voice for interpretation of any style, and has served as voice instructor at University of Waterloo, and as music teacher and choir director within the Waterloo Region District School Board.

In addition to music, Marg has a wide range of interests.  Holding a Masters of Psychotherapy and Spiritual Care, and as a certified yoga instructor, she takes a whole-person approach to her work with students.

Margaret has performed as soloist with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, Canadian Chamber Ensemble, KW Chamber Music Society, Georgian Bay Community Orchestra, London Symphony and Sinfonia, Grand Philharmonic Choir, Mennonite Mass Choir, Renaissance Singers, and Menno Singers.

Margaret studied for many years under Victor Martens at Wilfrid Laurier University, and also worked with Theo Lindenbaum of the Nordwestdeutsche Musikakademie Detmold and Madelaine Chambers of the Manhattan School of Music.  In her early career, she was the recipient of first prizes in the National Competitive Music Festival, and the Guelph Spring Festival Music Competition.
